Is Trump’s Divorce Private?

It is being reported that some media outlets are trying to unseal Donald and Ivana Trump’s divorce records in New York.

In 1990, when the Trump’s divorced, New York was not a no-fault divorce state. That means New York recognized divorces only upon fault-based criteria or upon separation. Apparently, the Trump’s divorce was based upon cruel and inhuman treatment.

The law changed in New York on August 15, 2010, when the Governor signed into law no-fault divorces.

New York also has stronger privacy laws with divorces when compared to other states. Pleadings to a matrimonial action are sealed for 100 years in New York. That is not the case in the majority of states.

Many people do not realize that Florida divorces are public record, with only some of the documents that contain confidential information being sealed from public view.

With a no-court divorce agreement, you can better control the privacy of your divorce.
